POSITIVE BOARD MEETING AT STOKE LANE!

Carlton Town held their first board meeting since the sad death of Paul Shelton last year and the clubs committee unanimously voted to name the stand behind the goal after the club legend who had spent 40 years of his life with the club.

The change will take place in the summer ahead of the 2018/2019 season and long term main sponsors Msr Newsgroup who currently have their name on the stand will instead have the all new corporate suite/ classroom named in their honour.

Trevor wells and Bob Sharp will oversee urgent maintenance work at the ground during the summer months with a number of committee members offering to help revamp the old dressing room complex currently used partly for storage and partly for match sponsors.

The club will primarily have to depend on volunteers and fund raising although an important addition to the board will hopefully Final open doors to the club being able to access grants.

The club has never received any cash from funding bodies but the club are hoping that can change with a change in circumstances and the appointment of Dave Hodgson to the board.

Dave has recently retired and will use all his experience and know how from holding a senior position within one of the countries leading companies to try and help the club he has fallen in love with over the last few months.

The official tie up with the Junior section it has been confirmed, will go ahead in the summer with a new constitution in place and Chris Bailey and Mark Steggles were both voted onto the clubs new Executive Committee.

A new website for the club is currently being prepared by supporter and web expert Tom Nightingale which will feature all the teams involved at the club and the club are planning girls teams as part of the new look Carlton Town.

Future events were also discussed at the meeting with Chairman Mick Garton reporting he had now sold over 60 tickets for the April event and a Junior soccer tournament, a Charity weekend and the clubs annual Golf day were all confirmed at the meeting, along with the Real Madrid Soccer Clinic which was announced a few days ago for the final week in May, official announcements of all these events are pending.

The big announcement however was the naming of the stand after Paul Shelton, a fitting tribute to a fine man who gave so much of his life to the football club.
