PENALTY HEARTBREAK FOR MILLERS!

Carlton Town continue to lose football matches by the thinnest of margins and this latest defeat was particularly cruel coming on penalties after a 1-1 draw, in an entertaining encounter with Evostick Premier League side Matlock Town.

Jordan Wilson gave The Millers a deserved lead with a cracking header from a corner in the first half and substitute Adam Yates replied for Matlock with an almost identical goal in the second half.

Carlton felt they should have had a late penalty when Aaron Hooton was bundled to the ground in the box but the referee waved play on and so it went to penalties.

For the record, Matlock were ruthless giving Jack Steggles no chance with their penalties but Matlock keeper Philip Barnes emerged a hero saving from Danny Elliot and Reece Bertram.

The club have also announced that The Loughborough Dynamo clash on Saturday 11th November will be held in honour and memory of Paul Shelton with Pauls ashes to be  buried inside the goal along with Bill Stokelds and Chuck Fowlers, with Pauls family being guests of honour for the game.

"Paul was at the heart of this club for over 40 years before his sad death in September, always working for nothing and putting money in each and every season to help the club survive and prosper and he will be missed in so many ways. The funeral was very moving and it was lovely to see how many people turned out to pay their respects" said Chairman Mick Garton.

"It is fitting that it will be The Loughborough Dynamo game, John Bryson at Loughborough was one of the many people who rung me offering their condolences and it was clear, he was deeply saddened and shocked by Pauls death"

"Supporters are invited to pen their own tributes for a special Matchday Programme which will feature pictures from the wake and anyone wishing to contribute can email us at info@carltontownfc.co.uk by Friday 3rd November" concluded The Millers Chairman.

Furher details are set to be announced in due course in what is set to be another emotional afternoon at Stoke Lane.
