PRESS OFFICER PAYS TRIBUTE TO SHELTS!

Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town press officer Josh Hodgson who worked closely with Paul Shelton over the past 2 or 3 years has penned a few words in his memory.

Carlton Town Football Club - Paul Shelton, 60, died on Sunday 24th September at home following a recent illness.

Paul dedicated 40 years of service to Carlton, and was loved by everyone who has been involved with the club across his tenure. He built friendships with members of every club at this level and further afield.

He had a unique sense of comedy which tickled everyone at Stoke Lane. If he complimented you on a job well done, be it off the pitch or on, you knew you really had done something well and his judgment and experience was always thoroughly respected.

He oversaw some great moments at the club including promotions with Tommy Brookbanks, The Notts Senior Cup, firstly with Les McJannet and most recently, just last year with Wayne Scott. All three managers say that they could not have achieved these feats without Paul supporting them.

He is a man that embodied the dedication and passion of what local football is all about, a stalwart of the game. He took great pride in his work and relished every day. The Club and the league will sorely miss him but he will always be in our hearts.
