Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town may have been without Aaron Hooton, but the clubs other strikers all stepped up to the plate each contributing excellent goals in Carltons 3-1 win to move them up to 5th in Evostick Division One South.

There had been much disappointment in Carltons defeat at Boston Town the week before and watching striker Aaron Hooton who was sent off for protesting about the late controversy, conceded that the Millers first half performance had not been good enough, he was still seething over the disallowed late goal which he was adamant should have stood and told us "I was definitely not offside"

The financial blow from that defeat was always going to be the biggest setback from it, but on the pitch, it was up to the players to provide a response and that they did!

Jordan Wilson gave Carlton the lead chipping the advancing Leighton Smith in the Romulus goal, but Carlton were also wasteful and other first half chances went begging.

Carltons Gnahore was denied for the second time one on one by the excellent Smith early in the second half and Romulus punished them with an excellent run and finish by Martin.

Romulus were very much in the game now and a scrappy 15 minutes followed and one felt the next  goal would prove pivotal.

Hooton on the sidelines was keen to see Stovell brought in the affray praising his pace and heading ability and minutes later, the manager obliged.

Carlton enjoyed a really good spell of possession with Mcnicholas among others pushing forward and Hooton had called it right when Stovell scored with a perfect header following an excellent cross and Gnahore then put the icing on the cake with an excellent free kick finish in the final minutes of the game.

Credit to Carltons two centre halfs who both had excellent games on a day when Carltons strike force stepped up to the plate.

Carlton have now been given a rearranged game next Saturday when Bedworth United will visit Stoke Lane 3pm.

The games highlights will be uploaded to Millers Tv in due course and Millers Tv reporter Josh Hodgson also spoke to Wilfred Gnahore.

Carlton are next in action on bank holiday Monday 28th August 3pm at Lincoln United.
