MILLERS HOLD STRONG NOTTS SIDE AT STOKE LANE!

Promotion Confirmed

LATE PENALTY FOR NOTTS ENSURES SHARE OF THE SPOILS!

A late penalty from Jon Stead (pictured) saw Notts County share the spoils at Stoke Lane after Robbie McNicholas had given the Millers a first half lead following a corner, the game finishing 1-1.

The game may not have attracted the 900 plus that came in 2015 or indeed the 610 who came in 2016 but that was down in the main to the fact that many Notts fans had travelled down to York City with The Magpies playing two games on the same day.

Horrendous traffic problems on the cowlick loop road meant many that did come arrived late, but a crowd of just under 200 turned up for the lunch time clash.

Fair play to Notts County who put out a strong side in both friendlies on the day and Manager Kevin Nolan and Chairman Alan Hardy chose to come to Stoke Lane.

Wayne Scotts boys were up for the contest and earned praise from Nolan for giving his team a good 90 minutes ahead of the new season.

Carlton would like to place on record their thanks to The Magpies for bringing down a side once again and wish them well for the new season.

Carlton meanwhile turn their thoughts to Dunkirk away on Monday evening (7.45pm) and to their final friendly at Stoke Lane next Saturday when Mickleover Sports (1pm) are the visitors.
