Promotion Confirmed

Coalville Town were the first visitors to Stoke Lane as The Millers began their pre season campaign with a 1-0 win courtesy of a thumping Aaron Hooton header in front of a crowd of 95 on a warm summer afternoon at Stoke Lane.

Hoots came on as a second half substitute and continued where he left off on May 2nd with the winning goal.

Former manager Tommy Brookbanks was pleased with much of the approach play from his Coalville side as they carved open some decent chances, but they failed to finish any of them and Brookbanks told his players, they would need to be more ruthless going forward.

Wayne Scott for his part will be pleased, particularly with the high energy levels shown in midfield and a clean sheet is a clean sheet.

Jordan Wilson who has just rejoined the club after a spell on loan from Kettering last season looked lively and both he and Kyle Stovell gave Coalville plenty to think about in spells of first half pressure.

Another new signing who started the game for Carlton was defender Robbie McNicholas who has joined the club from Basford United and he also slotted in nicely in his new surroundings.

The rest of Scotts starting line up was made up of players familiar to the Carlton faithful, but the club can confirm that Atton Wedderbourne has joined South Normanton and that William Mellors Blair is expected to seal a move to a Conference club, the club have already announced that Alex Troke has joined Shepshed Dynamos.

Scott will be looking at one or two more players during the pre season and that process is likely to continue when Radford Fc are the visitors to Stoke Lane this coming Tuesday, admission prices are just £3 adults, £2 concessions and £1 kids for this fixture.
