Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town Cup Final hero Aaron Hooton has given everyone at the Stoke Lane club a boost by signing a new contract ahead of the 2017/2018 season.

Hooton had previously been man of the match for Carlton in the County Cup Final in 2014/2015 when Carlton beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 6-2 at Hucknall Town.

He left The Millers at the end of the 2015/2016 season which was a disappointing campaign that saw Les Mcjannet step down at the end of the season after previously overseeing 4 great years.

Hooton joined Coalville Town and helped them to Evostick Premier League promotion via the playoffs before returning to Basford United where he had been as a youngster.

Hooton found his chances limited at Greenwich Avenue and returned to Carlton last season in a blaze of glory scoring 9 goals in 8 games and helping pull The Millers out of relegation trouble before a nasty knee injury kept him out for a prolonged period.

Hooton made it clear to anyone that would listen, that he was determined to be fit for the Cup Final although few believed that would be realistic.

Realistic it was and the rest is history with The Millers running out 4-1 winners against his previous club Basford United with Hooton scoring a brace and being named the official man of the match by the Notts Fa.

Hooton did have other clubs interested in signing him, but met Manager Wayne Scott, Secretary Paul Shelton and Chairman Mick Garton to announce he was staying with the club after an earlier meeting with Scott.

Carlton can also confirm their first pre season friendly will be on Saturday July 8th at Stoke Lane against Coalville Town with a 2pm kick off.
