Promotion Confirmed

LATE RIGLEY SAVES SEE MILLERS OVER THE LINE!

Carlton Town secured the runners up spot in the Worksop Van Hire Academy League this evening in a nervy but hard working performance against Eastwood at Stoke Lane.

The Carlton family were out in force with a number of first team players coming to support the Millers youngsters along with committee members, first team manager Wayne Scott, Chairman Mick Garton and club secretary Paul Shelton.

The first team players received plenty of pats on the back from supporters following their outstanding 4-1 Senior Cup final win over Basford United at Meadow Lane, in particular Arron Hooton for his man of the match performance and 2 goals and Danny Elliot for his only goal of the season, special though it was!

Tonight however was about the academy and Carlton made the early running, but only had a Tom Hallsworth goal to show for their first half domination.

Carlton started to become frustrated in the second half and Eastwood gained confidence and massive credit must go to Millers Academy keeper Danny Rigley who made 3 outstanding saves in quick succession to keep Eastwood at bay.

Matt Newton then calmed all the nerves with a superb individual goal in stoppage time to secure the win and runners up spot.

Massive credit should also go to Millers coach Lee Esam who has been at the helm of the Academy for the second half of the season and achieved some fine results.

The Millers presentation night should be a special one indeed !
