Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton described Tuesday nights 4-4 draw with Stamford as an "absolute thriller"

"I was in the corporate suite for most of the first half talking to potential sponsors, but did manage to see most of the game and it was an enthralliing contest, maybe the two managers did not see it that way, but it had everything, superb goals, mistakes, fantastic saves by the two keepers, two goals disallowed, one to each side, crunching tackles and end to end flowing football"

Both teams were applauded off the pitch at the end by the 100 spectators and Alex Troke who himself scored a blinder of a goal spoke to Millers Radio after the game, that interview will be online in due course!

For the record, there were goals for Aaron Hooton, Kyle Stovell, Josh Rae and Troke himself and numerous names were put forward for man of the match.

Jordan Smith and Jon Challinor both hit braces for the visitors and most spectators at the end were saying it would have harsh for there to be a losing side on a night of such rich entertainment.

Carlton must now turn their focus on two tricky final league fixtures, high flying neighbours Basford United are the visitors on Bank Holiday Easter Monday 3pm, before Carlton travel to AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Saturday 22nd April.

Both Basford and Rushden & Diamonds will be hoping to secure play off places and will have that extra incentive to try and ensure the Millers get nothing from either game.

Supporters will be hoping the entertainment value can match Tuesday nights, but although 4-4 draws may have been more frequent in the Tommy Brookbanks era, that indeed was the first one at Stoke Lane for some time, we are sure either Alan Murphy or Sam Hodkin will tell us when the last one was?
