Tuesday 28th March was not a night for traveling fans in Evostick Division One South and Carlton were right up their among the punished away teams.

There were 28 goals scored, 24 by home sides and some breathtaking score lines.

Jack Steggles has had another excellent season for Carlton, but was guilty of dropping a routine cross and Leek Towns Tim Grice (pictured) is nothing but ruthless in those situations, that goal put Leek a goal to the good and it did not get better for the Millers.

Carlton were 3-0 down before too long, but Walker pulled a goal back with a header and if Danny Gordon had converted when really he should, then Carlton would have been back in the game at 2-3 down and momentum would well and truly have shifted, as it did when they came back from 2-0 down against Sherwood in the County Cup quarter Final, ironically that night it was Gordon who was hugely responsible for pulling Carlton back into the game.

With that chance missed Leek added a fourth, Grice had scored a hatrick and Carlton went down 4-1 and it could have been worse but for some late Steggles saves, the painful highlights are on Leek TV.

The disappointment for Carlton was that Leek were on a bad run and like Northwich on Saturday where the Millers lost 1-0, Carlton would have been expecting to take something from the game, particularly on the back of their own recent good form.

Kidsgrove defeated in form Lincoln United 7-2, Sheffield FC who Carlton beat the other week 1-0 won 9-0 against Market Drayton and there were also home wins for Stocksbridge 2-1 over Belper and Witton Albion 2-0 over AFC Rushden and Diamonds.

It was not the night to be an away team in Evostick Division One South and particularly a supporter, Carlton will be hoping for an improvement on Saturday when they face Market Drayton Town at Stoke Lane 3pm.
