DISAPPOINTING DEFEAT FOR MILLERS!

Promotion Confirmed

VICS MOVE OFF THE BOTTOM AFTER VICTORY OVER CARLTON!

Carlton Town were unable to continue their excellent recent form and went down to a Dave Short penalty at Northwich Victoria as Jamie Dewsbury reports.

Vics earned a precious three points and moved off the bottom of the South table.

They took the lead on 17 minutes through striker Dave Shorts excellently taken penalty, hammered low into the bottom corner despite Jack Steggles despairing dive.

The penalty was awarded after Steggles had upended Vics attacker Stu McDonald at the corner of the six yard area.

Vics began the second half strongly and captain Reece Lyndons bullet header was gathered at the second attempt by Steggles but they struggled after forward Yaw Gyimah was red carded for an off the ball elbow on a Carlton player.

Hold out for the three points they did however and they move above Loughborough Dnynamo who went down 3-2 to Stocksbridge and close in on Rugby Town who went down 2-1 to Witton Albion.

Carlton remain on 36 points, 10 above Rugby but 5 behind Gresley Fc who are 18th.

Carlton are next in action at Leek Town this Tuesday, with a 7.45pm kick off.
