GORMAN DOUBLE FINISHES OFF A GOOD WEEK FOR THE MILLERS!

Promotion Confirmed

MILK TRAY MAN OF THE MATCH FOR CENTRE HALF!

With Centre half partner Kieran Walker unavailable, millers manager Wayne Scott gave the captains armband to Lawrence Gorman and he did not let his manager down with some fantastic and vital interceptions and clearances, but most of all 2 goals against playoff challenging opposition.

He was deservedly made the Milk Tray Man of the Match by School partnership guests St Johns the Baptist School and Councillor Nicki Brooks and was presented with his chocolates by Nicki and headmaster Chris Belton after the game.

Gorman had given the Millers the lead in the first half after a superb spell of pressure but it really should have been at least 2 with other chances missed, most notably a header by new striker Lavelle-Moore who should really have done better after excellent work from the impressive Jake Carlisle.

Newcastle were always going to come storming back in the second half and Carlton were at times under siege and a powerful header from Askey and an unfortunate own goal after the ball rebounded back off the post and hit a defender to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.

Carlton could have gone under from here with Newcastle piling forward, but man of the match Gorman had other ideas and finished superbly into the bottom corner to pull Carlton level.

Carlton had to battle hard, having a strong wind and a determined Newcastle side to contend with, but did so bravely and secured a deserved point to end the week on a positive.

Special mentions for Daniel Fletcher who slotted in superbly at centre half and Niall Davie who hardly put a foot wrong at Left back, good calls from manager Wayne Scott.

Wednesday saw the Millers reach the Notts Senior Cup Final, on Friday The Pool Marathon raised over £1,000 and to finish off the week, Carlton got a credible draw against Newcastle Town who were 4th, not a bad week at Stoke Lane!
