NARROW DEFEAT FOR MILLERS AT STOKE LANE!

Promotion Confirmed

MIXED EMOTIONS FOR MANY ATTENDING GAME!

Saturday 18th February will go down in the history books as a day in which Leek closed in on a possible playoff place spot and Carlton remained just above the relegation zone but there were other stories unfolding relevant to supporters of both clubs.

Sadness for everyone connected with Leek Town following the sad death of their long serving secretary Brian Wain, who passed away on holiday this week, but there was an impeccable minutes silence prior to kick off and the Leek players did him proud pulling off a fine 1-0 win thanks to a penalty from Chadwick after Kevin Lusamba was judged to have fouled Stevenson in the box.

Carlton had their chances and both Mellors-Blair and Danny Gordon hit the woodwork for the Millers while Grimshaw hit the woodwork for Leek, both keepers made fine saves and Carlton will feel they definitely deserved a share of the spoils, it was not to be!

One thing that did bring a smile to the Carlton faithful however was seeing the FA cup success of one of their own as Terry Hawkridge helped Lincoln City to yet another fantastic FA cup win, this time against premiere league side Burnley at Turf Moor.

Carlton remain 19th in the table after this narrow defeat while Leek are 7th, Carlton will hopefully be at home again on Wednesday when they take on Teversal in the semi final of the Notts Senior Cup weather permitting, the game being rearranged following last Wednesdays postponement due to a waterlogged pitch.
