DRAMATIC NIGHT OF CUP FOOTBALL AT STOKE LANE!

HEARTBREAK FOR SHERWOOD IN SENIOR CUP THRILLER!

With just 7 minutes left on the clock, underdogs Sherwood Colliery held a deserved 2-0 lead against Carlton Town, but after they missed a superb chance to make it 3-0, Carlton made them pay and how, with goals from Danny Gordon, Millers man of the match Josh Rae (pictured) and in extra time, Lawrence Gorman crashed home the winner after Sherwood had failed to clear their lines following a corner.

Any neutral in the ground would have felt for Sherwood, they defended superbly after taking an early lead through Burrell on 4 minutes and when Williams made in two on 79 minutes, there seemed no way back for Carlton with Former Millers skipper Ashley Kitchen superb at the back for Sherwood Colliery.

Former Millers manager Les Mcjannet was in the crowd and was like everyone else gripped at the fascinating contest, but praised Millers player Josh Rae for the equaliser and the fact he was the one player who was opening up the resilient Sherwood defence with some vision.

Millers radio were at the game from start to finish and Press Officer Josh Hodgson caught up with Carltons Matt Newton and former Skipper Ashley Kitchen after the pulsating contest and the interviews will be on Millers radio in due course.

Carltons reward for their dramatic victory is a home semi final tie against old foes, but highly respected foes in Teversal Fc.
