OUTSTANDING CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON SETS THE FESTIVE TONE!

The Christmas lights were on, the decorations up and on the screen to the right of the bar, a montage played put together by the Chairmans son Josh, a tribute to a true Nottingham Forest legend!

Enter to rapturous applause, double Euopean cup winner John Robertson, the man voted Nottingham Forests finest ever player.

He set up Trevor Francis for the first goal in the 1979 win over Malmo and scored the winner in the 1980 final against Hamburg and here he was addressing the faithful at Carlton Towns major Christmas event, the annual Christmas luncheon.

Carlton have had some big names indeed for this event Jack Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst, Graham Taylor, Paul Merson and more recently Howard Webb to name but 5 of the 15 since 2001.

None will have received a warmer reception than this man and he did he not let them down and apart from the excellent stories from his playing days about the great Brian Clough and Peter Taylor and many of his teammates "Robbo" in the second half of the afternoon pretty much did a one man comedy set which went down a storm!

The event went on till late in the afternoon and many wished he could have gone on all night, he had the audience in the palm of his hand and was given a deserved standing ovation at the end!

The club also raised some decent money with support from Sponsors Castle Rock and Msr Newsgroup and the club is grateful to both local companies for their brilliant support.

The event was a complete sell out with all 90 tickets being sold and the room was set out superbly by the hard working Jamie and Charley in difficult circumstances with space at a premium.

Lunch went down a treat with Home made Vegetable soup made by Chef Martin poxon followed by Pork cut straight from the bone with all the trimmings, top draw sir!

Lou was on hand as ever with his trusted camera and a full selection of pictures will be on the supporters website and Tim and Gaz Bee put in sterling shifts for the club.

Carlton Press Officer Josh Hodgson was also able to secure an excellent interview with the Reds legend which will be on Millers Radio in due course.

The big winners in the days competitions and fund raisers were Aunit Sandhu who won the signed David Beckham montage, Josh Hodgson who won the Forest hospitality and Robert Newton who won the Pele signed picture

Winners in the Silent Auction were Oliver Guilford, Greg Last and Josh Hodgson but the real winners on the day were the 90 people who enjoyed a cracking Christmas Luncheon, for them Christmas had well and truly arrived.
