Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town are sad to announce the departure of Coach and former Notts County star Darren Davis who let Chairman Mick Garton and President Roger Smith know after yesterdays 1-0 defeat to Bedworth United that he was stepping down.

Manager Wayne Scott who was already aware of the news told us" Darren has massive work commitments coming up and he felt it was unfair on the players if he was not turning up consistently for training and match days and also had to consider the impact on his family, I would like to personally like to thank him for all the time , effort and commitment he has given to me and the club over the last 18 months and wish him all the best for the future"

Chairman Mick Garton added " I know that when making changes have been talked about, Darren going was not on the agenda, he was extremely popular around the club, threw himself into everything we did and we will miss his experience and Imput particularly in terms of his knowledge with younger players, we hope he will come along as a supporter when he is free to do so, he will be missed"

Scott is understood not to be in any rush to replace Davis and will take stock after the up and coming games.

Another player on the move is Luke Smithson who is set to join Lincoln United, Smithson has had limited opportunities since signing from Rugby a few weeks ago and with the return to the squad of Kylie Stovell, he possibly felt he would fall further down the pecking order and with a good deal on the table from Lincoln following a 7 day approach, he feels another move will benefit his career, the club wishes him well!
