It may have only been a point as the Millers drew 1-1 with Lincoln United but the return of Aaron Hooton certainly lifted spirits at Stoke Lane.

Danny Elliot was part of the team that saw Hooton take Rainworth Miners Welfare apart in the Notts Senior cup final in 2013 to help win it for the Millers, but after spells at Coalville Town and More recently Basford United, the popular striker is back at Stoke Lane and Elliot believes it give Carlton a better chance of gaining some much needed points in Evostick Division one South.

"We all felt pretty low after the Sheffield defeat on Tuesday, but training was positive on Thursday and the signing of two new forwards prior to this match gave us a lift, I thought Hooton had won it for us at the end but for a great save from their keeper, but he had a really good game and will hopefully make a difference for us in the coming weeks"

Hooton was joined in the side by another new striker William Mellors -Blair who also impressed Elliot.

"I thought both new lads did well to be fair, on a personal level ,my fitness is still not quite where it needs to be after arriving back from Australia, although I am getting there"

Carlton have also re signed attacking midfielder Andréas Fatta in a busy 48 hours as manager Wayne Scott attempts to revitalise his squad as predicted by this website on Friday.

Hootons Superb goal and fine performance meant a man of match debut back at Stoke Lane and he spoke briefly to Millers Radio after the game, this will be downloaded and available soon.

Carlton now have 2 difficult away trips, starting with a journey to Chasetown on Tuesday night followed by a trip to Bedworth United next Saturday.
