CARLTON TOWN v SHEFFIELD FC

Promotion Confirmed

NO PLACE FOR FLARES IN A FOOTBALL GROUND!

Carlton Town have made the following statement after their completion of an investigation regarding issues with the behaviour of a section of away fans.

CLUB STATEMENT

Carlton Town would like to apologise to any spectators who were affected in any way by the two flares let off, one during and one after the game on Tuesday night against Sheffield FC.

The flares were let off by a Sheffield supporter and Carlton have received a full apology about the behaviour of a section of Sheffield supporters from the club, who gained entry to the stadium without paying and also damaged a number of seats in the stand behind the goal.

Carlton have provided Sheffield with information in relation to the individual who it is believed set off the flares, these were by far the most serious incidents and as such carries a prison sentence.

Sheffield are now following up on the information provided and have assured Carlton they will take any appropriate action against individuals involved. Sheffield has also agreed to compensate Carlton for the fans who entered without paying and the subsequent damage caused.

The two clubs and supporters have always had a great relationship and the speed with which Sheffield sent the apology and agreed to deal with the issues raised is much appreciated and has helped quell much of the anger that was felt by Carlton Town officials and supporters on the evening.

The club also appreciates the comments made by Sheffield supporters on the night who wanted to distance themselves from what was happening.

The FA were obviously made aware of what happened, which we understand was in the referees report, but were happy the club responded quickly to the incident.
