BACK DOWN TO EARTH AT STOKE LANE!

Promotion Confirmed

POOR MILLERS CRASH OUT OF THE TROPHY!

Carlton may have had a great fund raising night on the Friday night, but a sense of reality returned to Stoke Lane with a wretched performance in the FA Trophy against St Ives, the Millers going down 4-1.

There was good money on the table again for the Millers if they could win this game, but there were some woeful defensive mistakes and if the Millers play many more games in this fashion, they face a bleak season indeed!

Carlton started well and should have been 2-0 up before St Ives got a look in, but that is a story told many times before on this website.

Ben Seymour-Shore scored twice, Ben Harridine and Joshua Dawkins once each and but for a Jack Steggles penalty save late on, it would have been 5-1, two of Nottingham Forests finest ever defenders from different eras were in the crowd, John Winfield and Bryn Gunn, they must have been shaking their heads wondering what they were witnessing as Carlton folded so easily!

The penalty save was the one bright spot for Steggles in a match he would sooner forget, but he was not on his own and many players need to look at their contribution in what was a really inept 90 minutes from the Millers.

St Ives deserved their win, make no mistake about that and their Premiership class showed through at times, but Carlton massively contributed to the oppositions win with some shocking moments, both offensively and at the back and Carltons Supporters and Commitee alike, will be looking to the management and players to turn things round sooner rather than later after this instantly forgettable afternoon at Stoke lane.

A big thankyou to Dean Gripton for sponsoring the game to celebrate his 50th and he and his guests nominated Niall Davey as Carltons man of the match, good Millers performances were in short supply!

Carlton are at home to Sheffield FC this coming Tuesday 1st November at 7.45pm, Sheffield drew 1-1 with Basford United in their latest league game and are just above the 21st placed Millers.
