CARLTON PLAYERS AMONG PRIZE DRAW WINNERS / SPA DAY FOR SHELTS!

Carlton Towns 2nd Firework Extravaganza saw over 700 spectators pack into the Bill Stokeld Stadium beating last years attendance and also the attendance at the 2001 event when Jo and Twiggy and Nottingham Forest were the clubs very special guests for Fireworks, football and the official Fllodlight switch on.

Only 2 Forest players were here in 2016 Matty Cash (pictured) and Dani Pinillos, but boy did they make an impact with the young Nottingham Forest supporters and indeed Carlton Towns young generation, many junior players themselves.

Cash and Pinillos were brilliant with everyone they met and were at the Bill Stokeld Stadium for over 2 hours signing autographs and posing for pictures before carrying out the Clubs first ever 200 members club draw on the pitch with Carltons first team manager Wayne Scott and first team coach Darren Davis, before stepping back to enjoy the fantastic Big Bang Firework Display.

The big 200 cub draw resulted in a number of winners within the Stadium with Carlton players, Niall Davie winning a trip for 4 out to Southwell Races, Danny Gordon won a trip out to the Galleries of Justice, popular secretary Paul Shelton won a spa day for two while press officer Josh Hodgson won a day out at Papplewick Pumping Station.

The other Carlton Town man with a smile on his face will be Bob Sharp who won a £50 Love to shop voucher while the 2 biggest prizes , the 40" Colour tv went to Chris Smith while Dave Wheat won the signed Pele shirt. The winnings numbers were as follows.

1st Prize 198 Chris Smith , 2nd prize 186 Dave Wheat, 3rd prize 133 Frank loi, 4th prize 170 Bob Hayles, 5th Prize 161 Tom Kniightingale, 6th prize 8 Paul Shelton, 7th prize 1 Bob Sharp, 8th prize 19 Niall Davie, 9th Prize 60 Danny Gordon and 10th prize 140 Josh Hodgson.

In total 180 of the 200 envelopes were sold raising £1,800 towards the new mower the club recently took out a loan to buy.

The band Misspent Youth gave a passionate performance to bring the evening to a fitting conclusion as the final Clive Lancaster sausages were eaten and the final pints of Castle Rock Real Ale consumed.

With plenty of positive feedback on the night and social media afterwards, one suspects this event is here to stay!

A double interview with Matty Cash and Dani Pinillos was recorded by Millers Radio and will be downloaded to this website in the coming days!
