Carlton Town remain second from bottom of Evostick Division One South after yet another odd goal defeat, this time at Newcastle Town who move up to third in the table.

Lee Cropper was the hero for Newcastle with goals either side of Romella Nangles header from a Danny Gordon cross, but Carlton created plenty more chances and were on the front foot for large parts of the game.

Carltons long serving Secretary Paul Shelton pictured with fellow Commitee man Bob Sharp told us " Top performance from the lads but we were again let down by a lack of firepower in front of goal"

"Numerous chances went a begging from Rae, Nangle and Davie despite an excellent equaliser just before the interval from Nangle"

"Again the difference was Newcastle no 9 Cropper who scored both home goals, excellent performances from Keane, Rae, Elliot, Nangle and Schoenecker, but injuries to Davie and Keane were a concern and another booking for Daniel Fletcher means a suspension"

"We keep the faith as teams around us also lost" said Shelton.

Midfielder Danny Elliot also admitted he had missed a couple of chances and could not believe the Millers had come away empty handed ,but it has sadly been a familiar pattern for many weeks now.

Murray Hayes warned after the Lincoln United defeat that the Millers needed to get ruthless in front of goal or face another season of struggle, to date he is being proved right!

Carlton have a busy week ahead with the Firework Extravaganza on Friday night and Saturdays FA Trophy match against St Ives Town sure to create an exciting 48 hours at the club, a few Millers goals would also be nice, sometime soon!
