Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton (pictured) stunned the Carlton Town committee at the clubs AGM with some radical proposals which in the longer term will see a full on merger with the Junior section.

The major gateway to that was a proposal to scrap the clubs annual membership fee of £20 and make club membership free which falls in line with the Junior sections policy.

The club also launched a new 200 club prize draw to be held at the Fireworks Extravaganza on Friday 28th October.

Tickets for the prize draw are £10 each with each £10 note put into an envelope, with 10 top prizes to be won, the name and e mail address of every one taking part will be put in the numbered envelope and everyone taking part will automatically become a member of the club.

The prizes for this draw are of a high standard indeed and a Signed Pele shirt, a 40"Colour TV, a spa day for 2, Nottingham Forest Corporate Hospitality for 2, Premier Enclosure Tickets at Southwell Racecourse and a meal for 4 at a Great Northern Inns pub have already been secured.

Club Membership would not be reliant on people taking part and parents, Sponsors, players and Commitee  will automatically obtain club membership as part of a new community constitution.

The Chairman believes that the majority of people involved with the club will get involved and support the new draw given the scrapping of membership fees and the quality of prizes already secured for the new draw.

The Clubs committee were fully behind the proposals and while the bigger picture will involve legal changes and votes by both committees to put a new and acceptable constitution in place, the steps taken by the senior Commitee were a huge step in the right direction.

Such was the positive reaction to the new 200 draw, envelopes were purchased immediately and the debate was left open for expansion and further ideas going forward to embrace the new membership model and what could be put together as part of that package!

It is very much watch this space but Millers Vice Chairman Paul King is working with his legal team at April King, the clubs new kit sponsors to be in a position to put something forward to key members of both sections of the club, that will hopefully see the club in the longer term move to a new level in term of the clubs future and at the very heart of the local community.

New Pess officer Josh Hogdson and new Groundsman Trevor Wells were voted onto an extended Commitee and the clubs accounts were passed and praise was noted for many of the volunteers who help run the club, including manager Wayne Scott who has donated kit and training gear himself.

It was one of the most positive meetings ever held at the club according to feedback from those attending and the club will be hoping that the club as a whole can take huge steps forward in more ways than one in the coming months, as they enter a new season and hopefully a new era at Carlton Town FC !
