STEGGLES KEEPS COUNTY AT BAY!

Promotion Confirmed

NARROW DEFEAT FOR HARD WORKING MILLERS!

A fine goalkeeping performance from Jack Steggles (pictured) and a hard working performance from all of his team mates ensured Carlton Town came through their second pre season friendly with much credit once again after Saturdays narrow defeat to Mansfield Town.

The Millers went down 1-0 on this occasion to a Genaro Sneijers goal early in the game, ironically Sneijders was Carltons very special guest last Christmas when he drew the winning tickets for the 2015 Xmas Draw.

Carlton were on the back foot for most of the game but did have opportunities through Topliss and Wedderbourne and manager Wayne Scott can be well pleased with the performance level for the second time in 4 days.

Notts County manager John Sheridan was pleased with the way his players dominated possession and began to buy into his ideas, but also praised Carlton for the test they had given his side.

The same game last season attracted a gate of over 900 in perfect sunshine but conditions were somewhat different this year with rain falling throughout the game and Carlton Town chairman Mick Garton we understand was delighted with the gate of 610 given the conditions.

Carlton provided increased capacity this year in terms of food and beer options and received much positive feedback from the Notts faithfull.

Carlton Press officer Josh Hodgson was busy with interviews after the game speaking to players from both clubs and those interviews will appear on Millers Radio in the coming days.

Carlton return to action on Saturday when they host Coalvile at Stoke Lane 3pm and manager Wayne Scott will be hoping they can build on two excellent early results and performances!
