Former Nottingham Forest Captain Paul McKenna who led the Championship team to the Playoffs twice under Billy Davies helped Carlton kick off their summer fund raising efforts, as this summers guest speaker at Stoke Lane.

It was McKennas first outing on the speakers circuit and he made an excellent impression with the Carlton faithful, with stories of his time under David Moyes and Billy Davies among others.

Chairman Mick Garton hosted the event with Castle Rock the evenings kind sponsors.

Over £2,000 was raised in a week which as seen the club pay out over £10,000 in Stadium rental fees, insurance and pitch repairs.

The Chairman and Commitee will spend most of July attempting to cover the shortfall with a whole host of events starting with The Beer and Sausage Festival on the 8th and 9th July and the day at Southwell Races on Sunday 10th July.

Mckenna spoke for over an hour and stopped and posed for photographs and mingled with guests and also told everyone he thought England have a real good chance in the Euros.

He said that losing Nickey Shorey was one of the main reasons Forest did not get over the line and described Blackpool as a team Forest just could not beat that season despite their best efforts.

Mckenna also gave an exclusive interview to Millers Radio where he spoke at length to new host Josh Hodgson, that interview is now online.

Carlton meanwhile have confirmed that the Clubhouse Sportsbar will be open on Monday night 20th June for the England v Slovakia game which kick offs off at 8pm, all are welcome!
