MILLERS CHIEF TALKS TO DAVID JACKSON!

Carlton Town chairman Mick Garton was the special guest of Radio Nottinghams David Jackson on Sunday morning.

Garton was asked to pick his favourite tunes and talk about his life with both MSR Newsgroup and has Chairman of Carlton Town Fc.

New Order Blue Monday was among his choices as he touched on his love of Nottingham Forest and his trip to the 1979 European Cup final in Munich when Forest beat Malmo 1-0. 

Garton spoke of the way he had built his business, the new challenges it faces and his time as Chairman of The Millers working with just 3 managers during his 14 year tenure, Tommy Brookbanks, Les Mcjannet and now of course Wayne Scott.

He recalled getting married on the day of the Hillsboro Disaster, he spoke highly of Local Mp Vernon Coaker who as helped the club overcome some huge challenges over the last few years and recalled the presentation he and former Academy manager Ian Spencer put to the government inspector at a vital hearing to determine the clubs future when the bypass went through the ground.

He also touched on his love of Cricket and the fact he is still performing as a Right arm Chinaman bowler.

There were songs from Hot Chocolate, David Bowie, Ben Howard and Ultravox in the hour long show in which Garton also promoted The Millers forthcoming Fireworks Etravaganza.

His love of Ibiza and Dance music also came across and his hopes for his two children and there was warm praise for Carltons commercial manager Brian Dennett who plays such a big role at Stoke Lane.
