Promotion Confirmed

The clubs 11th annual Golf Day at Oakmere Park was won for the first time by Adrian Stanfords boys with a score of 88 beating Roger Smiths team by one point. The president is a fine golfer but as never been on the winning team despite entering a team every year into the event.

Carltons Academy amigos came 3rd with a battling 77 while there were wins in the nearest the pin for Nigel Harrop from Ilkeston Town, Jeff Purdy twice in the presidents team and for Carlton legend Ian White whose team were not among the prizes this time round. Mark Steggles too had to settle for a raffle prize this time round and he was last seen carrying a pile of Mars bars.

The popular Tony and his boys at Inside out also had a round to forget but Mars bars was their consolation too although the real top Monty chocolate prize, The Thorntons hamper was won by Carlton coach Lee , he was happy indeed!

Carlton were grateful to Msr Newsgroup for their support and in particular main sponsors Marstons and both Carlton President Roger Smith and Carlton chairman Mick Garton acknowledged that in closing speeches at the presentation as the 11th annual event drew to a close with an excellent winners speech from Adrian Stanford, the man who brought Howard Webb to Stoke Lane had a big smile on his face and rightly so after beating last years 4th place with a winners one this time round, well done indeed!
