Promotion Confirmed

Carlton Town have tonight announced that Academy manager Wayne Scott has been promoted to first team manager with immediate affect following the resignation of Les Mcjannet.

Scott as also been Mcjannets assistant for a good part of this season and the club believe he will have learnt much from the clubs struggles this season.

Scott has done an excellent job with the Academy this season and this website understands that key Commitee members put forward a strong case for Scott at last weeks board meeting.

Scott was formally offered the position last Friday following an interview with the clubs executive Commitee on Thursday where he was given a tough grilling from new vice chairman Paul King.

Scott met chairman Mick Garton , secretary Paul Shelton and committee man Mark Steggles at Stoke Lane this evening and formally accepted the position .

This website also understands that the development of younger players is key to Scotts appointment although the Commitee have done their very best to at least give the new manager a fighting chance next season with a budget he believes he can work too.

Garton made the annoucement in the clubhouse sports bar in front of a number of members of the coaching staff and academy players who had just completed training, there was warm applause following the annoucement and Scott will make a full statement to this website tomorrow.

It is no secret that chairman Mick Garton is disappointed to see Les Mcjannet go but accepts change was inevitable and will be fully behind Wayne Scott ,whose enthusiasm for taking on the post has impressed the Millers Chairman after meetings on Friday and finally Today at Stoke Lane.
