MCJANNET BOWS OUT WITH A SMILE AND A WEE DRAM!

Carlton Town and Brigg Town have both had miserable seasons so it was probably appropriate that they shared a 0-0 draw on the last day of the season on a rainy Lincolnshire afternoon.

Aaron Hooton should have won the game for The Millers and had enough chances to have won 2 games ,but it was not his day and Brigg were equally wasteful in front of goal and when they did hit the target, Curtis McDonald was outstanding in the Carlton goal.

The real hero of the day was supporter Dennis who sang Les Mcjannets name for the whole 90 minutes and then held court in the bar afterwards and in amazing scenes, carried out a full on hour Karoke session involving Brigg supporters, Carlton players and even Les Mcjannet himself as the popular Scotsman sipped from a hip flask on his last day at the helm of the club.

Mcjannet will go down in history as a great manager for Carlton Town who led them to their highest ever league finish, three senior cup finals, winning 2 and losing one and the semi final of the league cup last season.

One bad season does not make a bad manager and the manager can bow out with his head held high and the club will no doubt pay tribute to that on Friday May 8th at Stoke Lane ,when the club holds its annual presentation night.

Footage of Dennis in action paying his own tribute to Les is now on you tube, see the link below,it really does need a bigger stage and now gets one , the man is a Carlton legend just like Mcjannet.Video for sojplays TV carlton town

Carlton Town supporter Dennis pays tribute to Les Mcjannet in his final game leading the ...

A special moment was when Les walked over to Dennis as he left and gave him a big hug ,a special moment indeed from a special man who will say goodbye to Carlton Town on Friday 8th May and the club hopes that players, supporters, committee members and sponsors will come and pay their respects, their May even be a bit of Karoke ,that is at least what Dennis will be hoping for and with new vice chairman Paul King promising Dennis drums for next season, a dress rehearsal could well be on the cards, Les would want nothing less!
