Notts county assistant manager Greg Abbott was true to his word and took no fee for being Carlton Towns guest speaker, he follows in the footsteps of Nottighamshire County Cricket chief Mick Newell who also spoke for free at Stoke Lane last year.

Abbott told everyone that if they were not happy with his 45 minute stint, you get what you pay for and he was obviously taking nothing ,quality indeed and Abbott was quality throughout with some great stories and a very honest q and a and when he made a reference to Les Mcjannet and things being tough,Dennis provided a quality moment of the afternoon by bursting into song, "we are staying up, say we are staying up"

The Christmas Luncheon allways means the official start to Christmas for The Millers and Pete Gibson who put forward the concept some 14 years ago was in the house to celebrate with the Carlton Town faithfull once again.

Manager Les Mcjannet and club captain Martin Bell were on the top table with Abbott and chairman Mick Garton who compared the event and there was praise for General manager Shaun Martwich who hosted his first luncheon in some style.

With finances as tight as they have ever been at Stoke Lane , The Millers raised some much needed revenue and the club are gratefull to both the excellent Abbott and Castle Rock for their support as well as everyone who brought tickets and took part in the fund raising on the day.

The Christmas music rained out as the event drew to a close and people went home with a smile on the face ,some a little bit worse for ware, it is Christmas after all !

The supporters website allready have some excellent photos on line!
