Promotion Confirmed

Tributes have continued to pour in for Chuck Fowler, the latest coming from long serving physio Martin Jephson and his family who have a long and distinguished history with the club. There is also kind words from Brigg chairman Simon Harris who worked with Chuck during his time at Carlton.

I can’t believe the great man is no longer with us, a good friend one of the best.

Chuck has been a dear friend since our school days together, even at school he was known as Chuck.”

At school Chuck was a goalkeeper, but a better wicket keeper, probably because he didn’t have to run as far.”

So many memories!

Our long chats about the game.

reminiscing about our old school days.

Those pre match breakfasts.

Chuck and Pam sharing the ipod listening to the Bee Gees every away game.

All of those hours playing each other at Cribbage, I thought he was a good cribbage player until I discovered his son Andrew was watching the game on a second computer and informing his Dad of my hand.

One of my everlasting football memories of Chuck was when I was called to a personal hearing, having been sent off accused of swearing. Chuck went along to the hearing as my witness and said to the commission. “Mr Jephson would never swear in front of his wife who is always at games.”

Thanks to Chucks evidence I was found not guilty and in the car on the way home Chuck said to me “It’s a good Job I gave evidence because it got you off.” My reply was “I didn’t swear in front of Pam because she was at the concert hall and not at the game.”

It was a joy and privilege to work so closely with Chuck at Carlton Town FC, he was genuinely a caring, thoughtful friend who we will miss enormously.

The Jephson family’s thoughts are with Shirley, Martin and Andrew.

Rest in peace dear friend.

Martin, Pam, Nicola and David

I was so very sorry to hear of Chuck Fowlers death, he was  Carlton through and through and somebody I enjoyed being around.

I realise that he had been ill but it still came as a huge shock.

I have asked Brian Dennet to let me know when the Funeral will be and i will do everything i can to make it!

My thoughts are with his family and all at Carlton Town, non league football is a very personality based game and Chuck had the biggest of all.

I would also like to pass on the sadness and regards from my committee at Brigg Town FC.

Kind Regards

Si Harris
