SKELMERSDALE A STEP TOO FAR FOR MILLERS!

Promotion Confirmed

MACVICAR BRACE NOT ENOUGH!

A spirited display from Carlton Town which included a late onslaught was not enough to get them through to the Doodson Sport league cup final at Stockport County, despite a brace from sponsors man of the match Sam MacVicar.

Chairman Mick Garton had predicted in Wednesdays Nottingham Post that the stage was set for the big number 9 and so it proved but Carlton conceded 2 penaltys, which was also going to make it difficult against a team who are 2nd in the Evo Stik Premier Division.

Skelmersdale proved a formidable opposition but if Carlton could have finished one or two of the chances they created in the last 20 minutes with the score at 4-2, the game could so easily have gone to spot kicks.

As it is, Carlton can be proud of their run in the competition which has seen them defeat Buxton, Mickleover, Stamford and FC United of Manchester.

Millers Radio caught up with Sam MacVicar, Mick Garton and Les McJannet after the cup exit and all 3 were fairly upbeat despite the defeat, those interviews are now on line.
